【摘要】:Ownersconsiderchippingofcoatings,particularlyontheleadingfacesandedgesofautomobilesurfaces,unacceptable.Informulatingacoatingorcoatingsystemtomeetservicerequirements,theresistancetochippingdamagebyflyingobjectssuchasgravelisoneofthepropertiesofimportancesinceitcanvaryconsiderablyasotherpropertiesareadjusted.Sinceresistancetochippingdecreasesatlowertemperaturespartlyastheresultofdecreasedflexibility,thetestmaybemoredirectlyrelatedtoserviceconditionsbyperformingitatalowtemperature.Thistestmethodisdesignedtoproduceacontrolledamountofimpactbythemediaonthecoatedpanelinordertoenhancereproducibility.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationoftheresistanceofcoatingstochippingdamagebystonesorotherflyingobjects.Note1-ThistestmethodissimilartoSAEJ-400.1.2Thevaluesstatedinmetricunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.TheEnglishunitsgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.Alldimensionsarenominalunlessotherwisespecified.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
